Most are free-to-use (ie public domain or copyright-free) meaning the words can be copied and sung to at least one tune with no concerns about copyright or performance licensing. Many such hymns are old/traditional - but where possible a variety of styles / genres are included.
A small selection of hymns which are, or may be, still copyright are also included where they are a particularly good for for the theme(s).
Seasonal note
The first Sunday after Easter is the second Sunday in the Easter Season: Easter Sunday itself is the "1st Sunday of Easter".In some communities, this is known as "Low Sunday" - and has minimal if any music to give choirs and music directors a break after the demands of Holy Week.
Readings
First: Acts 5:27-32 - Peter and the apostles are questioned by the High Council about why they are continuing to teach in Jesus' name despite being told not to - they answer that the must obey God rather than any human authority, and that they are witnessing to God having raised and exalted Jesus as Leader and Savior that he might give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.Psalm: 118 - The Lord is my strength and my might ... The right hand of the Lord does valiantly ...
Second: Revelation 1:4-8 - John's greeting of grace and peace to the seven churches ... from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits ... and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. ..."I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God...
Gospel: John 20:19-31 - Jesus appears to the disciples after eight days "Peace be with you - as the Father sent me, so I am sending you" - and gives them the power to forgive sins. Thomas was not there the first time, and doubted - but he was there when Jesus came again - and so he believed.
